Director of Engineering, Hematology
The R&D Director of Engineering, Hematology reports to the VP Research & Development. This position is responsible for leading the overall technical direction for the company’s hematology program.
Development Leadership
- Serve as the Direct Responsible Individual for the development of a novel hematology system. Lead the technical direction and systems-level decision making for the product.
- Lead the system engineering process, requirements engineering activities, tradeoff & risk management activities and related design review activities, system level design, design of experiment, system integration and verification/validation activities.
- Work collaboratively with program management, functional leads, subject matter experts and company leadership to provide technology based solutions to achieve program goals and objectives.
- Provide guidance and assistance to ensure that project tasks are achieved effectively and in a timely manner.
- Work with the VP of R&D to identify resource and knowledge gaps to minimize technological risk in the program.
- Responsible for maintaining a cohesive interface between all functional groups in support of project goals.
- Identify and recommend resource allocation and project prioritization across disciplines to ensure timely and optimal execution against project plans and timelines.
- Identify and manage outside agencies, consultants, contractors, etc. to bridge knowledge gaps as needed.
- Coordinate technical presentations and reporting of technical progress to leadership
- Provide objective perspective on program status, progress, resource utilization, program risks and road-blocks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a technical leadership role
- Proven track record of bringing IVD products to market
- Experience in Hematology IVD is preferred
- Experience in fast-track or startup environment is desired
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
