Job Description
Medica develops and manufactures affordable clinical analyzers and other products for the diagnostic laboratory and point-of-care settings. The company’s unique approach to design results in analyzers that are accurate, easy-to-use and maintain, and are ideally suited for the low volume in-vitro diagnostic testing market.
Under the direction of the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, this position is responsible for the careful accurate preparation of all out-bound product shipments and shipping paperwork. Conduct inventory move and shipping transactions on a computer based inventory control system. Provide continuous improvement to customer order shipment accuracy. Participate in the daily cycle count program and investigate any count discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares international shipping paperwork and conducts all shipping transactions.
- Supports regulatory requirements by following export compliance procedures.
- Compares information and counts on picking list with products being shipped.
- Supplies Customer Service with requested order weights and products being shipped.
- Provides Shipping estimates upon request
- Cleans, prepares and packages specialty products for final shipment.
- Operates hand truck or pallet jack to transfer materials to shipping dock.
- Participates in daily cycle count program to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ensures inventory management to adhere to the Medica FIFO program.
- Ensures material transactions and adjustments or inventory transfers are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assists in the Order Packaging area when time follows.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.
- Participates in cross training with other interdepartmental areas-such as Order Packaging, and Final Assembly.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Drive manual shift company box truck between buildings (as needed)
Skills/Training
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history.
- Ability to drive manual shift vehicle.
- Demonstrates good organizational skills.
- Perform duties with a high degree of independence, determining the correct course of action and informs department manager of matters requiring attention.
- Maintains effective working relationships with other employees.
Experience/Education
- Position requires high school diploma (or equivalent); five years of relevant shipping experience, understanding of computer-based shipping through FedEx, UPS and comprehensive experience with international shipping and export compliance requirements.
Physical and Environmental Considerations
- Normal receiving dock and office environment; maybe subjected to extremes in temperature, noise or other environment conditions.
- Position requires ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly.
- Position requires ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Position requires ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds (assisted) rarely.
