JOB TITLE:  Product Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Medica manufactures and develops a line of easy-to-use and maintain low cost blood testing analyzers for the clinical laboratory. Medica’s products are specifically designed for the low volume in-vitro diagnostic testing market. The Company’s growth is a result of its strategic focus on the worldwide need to lower healthcare costs.

Reporting to the Product Director/Sr. Director of Marketing the Product Manager will be responsible for ownership and management of new and/or existing electrolyte and blood gas products throughout their lifecycle; generate product requirements and drive product road maps; engage with customers/distributors to understand their needs and translate feedback into actionable requirements; collaborate with internal cross-functional R&D, regulatory, sales/marketing, finance and operational teams.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Product Owner/Champion – Blood Gas & Electrolytes
    1. Identify and define new product requirements or enhancements to existing products. Prioritize based on technical capability, time-to-market, development cost and product profitability throughout the product definition and development process. Recommend changes to plans as necessary.
    2. Work collaboratively with product development teams to help develop phase reviews and other project milestones/roadmaps.
    3. Understand current trends in technology and develop thorough understanding of markets in order to help define R&D scheduling and marketing plans.
    4. Act as the voice-of-the-customer, gathering insights and distributing to internal stakeholders and teams. Provide input from the field on product requirements. Develop relationships with key technologists/customer sites to provide direct input for product development, use-case testing or development of other product strategies.
    5. Lead reference and use studies and evaluations.
    6. Collect and distribute business intelligence in the point-of-care testing market.
    7. Identify and recommend new sources of growth.

 

  1. Provide product management support including participation in product reviews, upstream activities, training, customer support, forecasting of units to be sold and the net selling price, inventory management, setting of budgets and sales/marketing product support.
    1. Partner with the Sales and Marketing Teams to define scope and provide content for requirements documents, presentations and proposals.
    2. Plan and execute launch activities including assistance in pricing strategy, demand planning and customer ship prioritization.
    3. Develop support material for the sales organization that explains our product differentiation and strategy. Effectively train and communicate this material to the sales organization and across the corporation.
    4. Assist in the development of product collateral, technical documentation, demonstration materials, and user guides.
    5. Review and analyze market studies, trade literature, and Internet sources to formulate ideas and opinions on areas of opportunity presented by the marketplace; maintain files of competitive material for reference.
    6. Work closely with sales and marketing management to establish sales strategy, targeting, and promotion of assigned product lines.
    7. Participate in product demonstrations, industry conferences, and webinars with customers and partners.
    8. In cooperation with operations and product development, assist in setting product margin targets and cost reduction plans/targets. Review revenue targets and margin objectives on an on-going basis.
    9. Collaborate with customer support on product related questions and/or programs. Work cross-functionally with operations, R&D, Technical and Customer Support to resolve product related issues.
  2. Support the development of annual and corporate strategic business plans. Support the development of market and sales strategies and value proposition for assigned products.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in engineering, business, marketing or healthcare related field required.
  2. 3+ year’s product management or 5+ years of related experience in medical device engineering, sales, marketing and/or clinical applications/technology.
  3. Experience in medical devices, electrolyte testing, or clinical chemistry in a clinical laboratory setting a strong plus.
  4. Ability to discuss complex concepts with PhD and MD level professionals.
  5. Strong technical acumen.
  6. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs and Salesforce applications (or other CRMs).
